    1. Ella Mae LeFaye has left her cheating husband, come home to Havenwood, Georgia, and opened the 'Charmed Pie Shoppe.' Ella Mae's confections are delicious and - when she puts a little extra oomph into them - enchanted as well. After consuming an ensorcelled pie, for instance, a glum dowdily-attired woman buys a bright yellow outfit and hitches a ride on the back of a speeding fire truck. In this second book in the fantasy/mystery series, 32-year-old Ella Mae finally acquires the magical powers th [...]

    2. I've been eagerly anticipating the next book in the Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery series, and, wow, PEACH PIES AND ALIBIS was even better than the first. I devoured it!Ella Mae LeFaye is settling into her new life in Havenwood, Georgia. The townspeople love the scrumptious pies she makes in her shop. Little do they know, Ella Mae has the ability to "charm" her pies to influence the emotions of others, a gift she just recently discovered.I love how this book delved deeper into Ella Mae's magical bac [...]

    3. Peach Pies And Alibis is the second book in the A Charmed Pie Shoppe series byNEW YORK TIMES Best Selling Author, Ellery Adams.Ellery Adams does such a wonderful, once again, of telling a great story and writes in a manner that, for this reader, makes me feel that I am right there, every step of the way. I felt I was there as Ella Mae was walking through her mother's rose garden, could hear her Aunt Verena's hearty laugh and see her Aunt Dee's metal sculptures and hear the classical music in her [...]

    4. I truly want to write a review that will have both readers of mysteries and students of Mythology to rush to their booksellers and purchase this book. Why? Because, if you don't, you just may be missing out on a tale that will span the coming centuries of literature. Are you familiar with the epic tale of King Arthur? Perhaps, you are familiar with the world of Arianrhod, the Welsh goddess that some feel is the root of the feminine trinity prior to Druidism? Why on Earth am I starting a review o [...]

    5. Four Stars: A cozy mystery with magic, mythology and pies!Ella Mae tosses the last bit of fresh fruit and concentrates on a happy memory before slipping the sweetened fruit into the buttery pie crust. Ella Mae is just realizing her magical powers, and she knows she must be careful while baking, otherwise her enchanted pies could cause disastrous results. Ella is still settling back into life in her hometown. Her pie shop has taken off, and she is busier than ever. Unfortunately, she still hasn't [...]

    6. See this review and others like it at BadassBookReviews!Excuse me while I gush a minute I love the world of Havenwood that Ellery Adams has created and every single one of her characters is fantastic. She fills each book with warmth and humor, and still manages to ground the magical elements within satisfying human conflicts. The "Charmed Pie Shoppe Mysteries" do follow traditional cozy mysteries standards, but Ellery has also written a world-building treatment that is more likely to be found in [...]

    7. This is a truly charming series! The characters jump right off the page, the food descriptions are devine, and the mystery is intriguing. Ella Mae discovers a couple of things about herself along the way. The mystery and the character growth were perfect! This truly is one of the best ( and most enchanting ) cozy series out there!

    8. Review coming tomorrow.A second outstanding book in this series, this book was filled with excitement and intrigue. This book was a winner.Ella Mae comes back in the second installment of the Charmed Pie Shoppe Series and is just coming into her gift to affect people's feelings through her baking. This book shows a lot of character growth with Ella Mae and you learn ore about her family. However this was probably one of the saddest cozy mysteries I have ever read, during one scene the author did [...]

    9. This is actually more like a 2.5 star read for me, but am going the extra .5 star because I liked the first one so much. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for the absolute suspension of disbelief that this one required. I knew who the "bad guy" was from the minute that person first appeared. For me it was like there was a big flashing light over the person's head saying "BAD!". There were many things I just couldn't buy with some of the characters. I'll still be on hand for the 3rd one, because I [...]

    10. Now who would ever expect in this day and age the reach of a wizard such as Merlin? Heaven knows I didn't. Ella Mae is asked to cater a wedding, buys an old mail truck and has to rescue one of her favorite people in the world, Reba. On top of all that she needs another employee because her shop is doing so well. What she gets will shock and surprise you. You'll laugh, cry, get mad and maybe even feel a little love. This is the best book in this series yet. I absolutely could not put it down. By [...]

    11. Wow, what a follow up to the first book. Fantastic read. I'll admit when the magic starting coming out I half expected it to be a bit hokey, but it was not in the least. I was so glad to learn so many answers to the questions that we were left with in the first book. Great story line. I did guess the suspect fairly early, but it really didn't take away from the story at all. I can't wait for more books!

    12. Ella Mae has a lot on her plate with running her very successful Charmed Pie Shoppe but has decided to add a little catering to the mix. Her first job is a dessert buffet at a wedding. Things are going well until right after the couple ride away on horseback the bride’s stepmother is rushed to the hospital where she slips into a coma. This on the tails of a prominent member of the community has died. Ella Mae is afraid these two things may be related.Ella Mae is also trying to understand her e [...]

    13. I liked this book. However, don't let the whimsical cover fool you. This is a more serious, suspenseful book about good vs. evil magic powers. I think the cover should have been something more dark. There are times of tragedy, and some pretty corny romantic and drama lines. ie: The water glistened on his tan and muscular body (stuff like that). Yeesh!I found it intriguing to involve the time period of Merlin and Guinevere. And the story really kept my attention. In one scene, Ella Mae was in dang [...]

    14. The second book in the Charmed Pie Shoppe cozy mystery series delves more deeply into the mythology of the family's magic powers. Ella Mae continues to run her shop, but is being run ragged without sufficient help other than her companion/ family protector, Reba. In a chance encounter with some local cheesemakers, she not only picks up a catering job for a wedding, but also a new employee. Ella Mae learns about the sacred grove when she has her late arriving "awakening", coming into her full pow [...]

    15. This one I'm rating 2.7.I love Ellery Adams' other series to death (the one about the writers' club). I also really enjoyed the first book of this series as a kick-back read. This book had some jarring issues for me. I didn't mind at all the shift from a playful low-fantasy kiss-of-magic-in-the-real-world atmosphere to pretty much high-fantasy-with-a-kiss-of-the-real-world stance, but the gun scenes were just weird in this book and jumped out as being completely misplaced. Why on earth would a c [...]

    16. Well its been a couple weeks and I've yet to put my finger on what about this second book that I didn't like. I think it had something to do with the King Arthur/Merlin/Morgan Le Fay/Guinevere revelation. As soon as this was revealed I gave a big sigh and read on. I've never been a big fan of this legend so that could be my problem. However I believe it was the fact that it took Ella Mae so long to figure out who the bad guy was. I mean seriously you describe someone as looking like a vampire an [...]

    17. I enjoyed the first book in this series, Pies and Prejudice. These books are well written, the story line is well crafted and the characters are engaging. The book definitely lives up to the series name – charming. I would call this second book in the series much more a paranormal than a mystery. In the first book, the paranormal element was a light feature of the story but in this book it definitely takes center stage.Fans of Charlaine Harris’s Southern Vampire series will probably enjoy th [...]

    18. Ella Mae is back & continuing to try to figure out her new-found powers as well as herself. While helping her aunt deliver a sculpture, she stumbles across a body that has her questioning everything. While trying to uncover a killer & working long hours at her pie shoppe, she decides to cater a wedding. An unexpected guest shows up then the ultimate unexpected happens & a wedding attendee is stricken down. Ella Mae, her doting family and beloved Ruby have to ferret out a killer among [...]

    19. Peach Pies and Alibis is a magical and enchanting read. Ella Mae, in the 2nd book of the series, starts to learn more about her magical abilities and the abilities of those around her. It is a book as much about family as a magical mystery. The first book in the series Pies and Prejudice introduced Ella Mae to her abilities. This book is entirely magic related. The characters of Ella Mae, Reba (my favorite) and her aunts are very likable.Ellery Adams is a very good story teller. It was a fresh a [...]

    20. I’m not tapping out of this series just yet but this second book was such a disappointment after book 1 of this series. In this installment, we found out a LOT more about Ella Mae’s family and history and the “magic” elements didn’t really work for me. Sort of silly back story and a sudden alliance with the designated “bad girl” of book 1…meh. Still loving Ella Mae and the descriptions of her culinary creations but the larger plot line is slowly losing me. I’m still in for book [...]

    21. What a wonderful book! It's got mystery, magic, Arthurian lore, pies and other tasty food, and fascinating characters. I loved Ella Mae LeFae's family and friends and am looking forward to seeing more of them in the promised third book. You don't necessarily have to be a fan of cozy mysteries to enjoy this book. If you like magical fantasy set in the real world, especially if you're interested in Arthurian themes, it's likely you'll enjoy this.

    22. The first book was passable, but in this one they tried to up the fantasy stuff while still holding on to the mystery and romance, and it felt a little forced. I'm biased --I prefer Sarah Addison Allen, and her nebulous bits of magic popping up in a regular story. Trying to explain it and dive deeper wasn't my cup of tea. Also --the "mystery" was pretty obvious to me by about halfway. I hate it when an author makes the characters dumber than normal just to spin out a story.

    23. In this entry of the Charmed Pie Shoppe series an awful lot of events are happening simultaneously. Ella Mae learns some serious family secrets while she struggles to manage her growing business. By the end of the book we are overwhelmed with the understanding of what's going on in Havenwood. Oh, and the book's cover has some of the best cozy art I have ever seen.

    24. This is the second book in the Charmed Pie Shoppe series- and this is one great read. It has all the necessary ingredients for a cozy- small town- kooky characters - loveable main character- and a cute-smart animal ( I prefer a dog) and oh yes a murder. Well Peach Pies and Alibis has all that plus and bit of magic- some twists-turns and surprises. I can not wait for the next one.

    25. Fairly decent mystery. My inkling on who the culprit was turned out to be true. I stayed up past my bedtime to finish the last 50 pages or so. The ending hit a nerve which gave me a bad dream. The sad dream just proves how easy it is to relate to these characters. I look forward to the next enchanted pie shop mystery.

    26. An enjoyable summer read. I love the whole premise of the book, it was intriguing and hooked me as the reader right away. It was predictable, however, but I still enjoyed the book. Looking forward to the next one in the series!

    27. I enjoyed the first book in this series, but was surprised by the magical change in book 2. Hopefully book 3 will go back to a mystery book and not a fantasy.

    28. This book did not disappoint, all that I liked from the first continued and more. Adams expanded on the magic in the universe and it was interesting and unique. The side characters continued to be developed and were fun. I’m still not overly fond of Ella Mae, she’s fine, but I don’t know, kind of boring maybe, honestly I’m not sure why I don’t like her. Her ex-husband showed up which I was kind of concerned about, but I liked how he was handled. I wish whatever was going on with Hugh w [...]
